FAQ
How far in advance should I reserve portable toilets?
We recommend reserving as early as possible, especially during busy seasons such as spring, summer, weddings, festivals, and holiday weekends. For large events, booking several weeks or even months in advance is best.
What types of portable toilets are available?
PAK offers services for one type of unit for both short term and long term rentals— our Basic Flush unit. Unlike standard drop tank models, our units provide a more premium experience by utilizing an integrated flushing system.
How long can I rent a portable toilet for?
PAK offers two types of portable toilet rentals: - Short-term: Weekend rentals typically include a Friday delivery and a Monday pickup. - Long-term: These are available on a month-to-month basis. Please note that we use a 28-day billing cycle for all long term rentals.
How many portable toilets do I need for my event?
A good rule of thumb is one standard portable toilet for every 50 guests over a 4-hour period. If your event includes alcohol, food, or lasts longer than 4 hours, you may want to increase the number of units. Larger events often also benefit from adding hand washing stations or restroom trailers.
How does delivery work?
PAK will deliver the units to your requested location before your event or project begins. It is helpful to mark or explain exactly where you want the units placed and make sure the area is accessible for the delivery truck. If specific instructions are not provided, the driver will use their best judgment for placement.
Where should portable toilets be placed?
Portable toilets should be placed on level ground in an area that is easy for guests or workers to access. The location should also allow enough space for service trucks to reach the units for delivery, cleaning, and pickup.
Do I need to be present for delivery?
You do not always need to be present if you have clearly communicated where you want the units placed. However, some customers prefer to be onsite to ensure everything is set up exactly as planned.
Can portable toilets be placed on grass, dirt, or gravel?
Yes. Portable toilets can usually be placed on grass, dirt, gravel, concrete, or asphalt as long as the ground is fairly level and stable. However, keep in mind that our delivery and pump trucks can not be driven on grass, so please be mindful as far as placement for grassy areas.
How often are portable toilets cleaned?
For long-term rentals such as construction sites, toilets are usually cleaned and restocked once per week. For large events, extra cleanings or service visits can be scheduled if needed.
What is the blue liquid inside portable units?
The blue liquid is a deodorizing and sanitizing solution used in portable toilets. It helps control odors, neutralize smells, and begin breaking down waste. The color masks visibility and keeps the unit looking cleaner between services. The solution we use is environmentally safe, non-hazardous, and biodegradable, and it’s refreshed during each service visit to maintain cleanliness and freshness.
What can I put in a portable toilet?
Portable toilets are designed for human waste and toilet paper only. Items such as wipes, feminine products, paper towels, diapers, trash, food, or chemicals should never be placed inside. These materials can cause clogs, damage equipment, and disrupt wastewater treatment. For events, we recommend placing trash cans near restrooms.
Do I need a hand washing station?
Hand washing stations are recommended for events with food service, outdoor gatherings, schools, festivals, and construction sites. Many customers rent one hand washing station for every two to four portable toilets. If you don’t see availability on the website, please call the office to reserve.
Are ADA accessible portable toilets available?
Yes. ADA accessible units are larger and designed to accommodate wheelchairs and guests with mobility needs. Many events should include at least one ADA accessible restroom. If you don’t see availability on the website, please call the office to reserve.
What happens if a toilet tips over or gets damaged?
If a unit is damaged or tips over, contact the PAK right away. We can send a driver to clean, repair, or replace the unit as quickly as possible.
Can I move the portable toilet after it is delivered?
Portable toilets should not be moved once placed unless approved by the rental company. Moving a unit incorrectly can damage the toilet or create safety issues.
